As for Chinese education, people like yourself who just want to play stupid games with kids and show Mr Bean are part of the problem. Sure, older laowai men move to Asia to have an easier more stress free life. However, if I'm working part-time at a university I'll do proper lesson plans, attend my classes, get paid at the end of each month. At least if the students have a decent foreign teacher they might actually learn something useful, unlike the drivel they are taught in their Chinese classes.

Many Chinese Universities are pretty low standard and consequently the students are the same; which is maybe why they can only afford to employ, has-been; never-been; and correspondent course professors. If you're a doctor or ordinary FT, the students won't thank you for preparing difficult lesson plans, and if you want to be popular and not be banging your head against the wall, Mr Bean and games will go down well. They will allow you to talk to them too. So that will help more with their English, than fancy lesson plans.
