In response to Re Global Language Academy, Italy (Dubius Maximus)

Red flags:
The skype interview started with the purported recruiter ('Mr Pietro Tomme') going through the typical "How are you?", "let's start when you are ready" etc small talk via skype text chat. I stated I was ready and waited for the video-voice proceedings. The call came in, I was able to see and hear him just fine (he was slouched in his chair, the background was very noisy), but he claimed he wasn't able to hear nor see me and quickly ended the call. This was within a few seconds (~20 seconds) into the call. He stated that we should proceed via text. I nudged him to try again but he insisted to carry on via text chat instead.

I was asked some standard questions, but received no feedback nor proper follow-up for my responses (almost as if I was merely filling out a test sheet). He took quite a while to ask some of the questions after I provided my answers, and in some cases the questions seemed rushed and did not flow. In other words, it felt haphazard. At one point he disappeared for 17 minutes, ignored my simple ''are you there?'' inquiry, then appeared again with no apologies for this long absence. At that point I confirmed in my mind that this wasn't a genuine, professional opportunity but went along with it anyway, just to see where it would go (thinking the more you know, the better off you will be for future connections). At the end of it all I was told that I would be contacted over the weekend with a decision.

It should be noted that at no point in time was I given an opportunity to ask any questions. Please DON'T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY. Any legitimate organization will allow and invite questions, considering the job has to suit you too.

I was contacted and offered 'the position' that weekend and told to wait for a contract to be sent to me. The contract came some days after and was quite vague to put it mildly. I was told to sign and email the contract back to him/them, and was also sent contact details for someone to contact re visa assistance.

I tried contacting him after receiving the contract but kept getting message delivery failure errors. A day later the email issue seemed to have been resolved as I was again able to send him an email. I asked him if I could get an opportunity to ask a few questions to clarify some things, and he replied back "yes, Kindly get back to us with your best time to talk on Skype". I replied with a time to 'talk on skype', but received no response.

A day later he emailed me with this message: "Please let's make it on Wednesday, 22:00 my time". If I wasn't convinced earlier, I sure had to be convinced after that message. 10 pm, which legitimate school or recruiter would want to skype chat at 10 pm? Anyway, to wrap things up, I did go on at 10 pm Italian time, and of course he was nowhere to be found. I haven't heard from him since.

All in all, the prompt disconnection of the skype call and reluctance to use video; the haphazard interview flow;the interrogative nature of the interview with no invitation to ask questions; the 'willingness' to extend a job offer without knowing what I sound like as a foreigner;the email delivery failure errors; and the disappearance after my seeming reluctance to sign the contract and my request to have further dialogue to ask questions all point to this Mr Pietro Tomme fellow as questionable (to say the least).

If you do decide to go any further with this, please keep me posted. Please be careful.
All the best.
