In response to EF Hohhot (Emily's little Kitten)

I find it to be a shame you have believed the bullshit you've been told. EF Hohhot is in no way an 'up and coming' school. It is fighting to survive, and not doing a very good job of it, especially because of the appalling way it treats staff, Chinese and foreign alike.

Getting rid of the 'dead wood' you say? By a man who won a management position through lies and deception, who leans heavily upon favouritism, who is hugely dishonest, cowardly and has not one iota of creativity. His idea of 'dead wood' is very different to the next persons. Basically, if he decides he likes you (which seemingly has no pattern of criteria) you're safe. If he doesn't like you, you'll be targeted and bullied until you leave.

He has got rid of perfectly capable teachers, more capable than himself in fact, because he's taken a personal disliking to them. His idea of good teaching is sticking solely to the book no matter what, which anyone with any inkling of creativity or initiative knows is absolute bullshit.

Hohhot itself is not the problem. I guess if you're applying to teach abroad then you are an adventurous person, so the differences in lifestyle should be welcomed. It has its ups and downs like living in any Chinese city. If you are especially interested in going to Hohhot, there are plenty of other decent schools, such as Forwards or New World Language school. Steer clear of EF. You won't be appreciated, that much I know for sure.
