For the records: Untrained and not properly qualified "teachers" should have no place in ESL. If you have no degree, go and and study for it to get one before you call yourself a "teacher". I bet you aren't. Period.

Right; let's give LondonGirl a job. You will know better than the rest of us that she really knows her stuff. And she is a real teacher; meaning she is capable of teaching the English in England. She is in the same league as Foxy and Cunninglinguist. The rest of us are just not properly qualified teachers anyway.

We have two applicants for a job in China. The first applicant is a non-native speaker of English with lots of credentials (legal but where he got them might be a problem for him) to his name. The other applicant is a bus driver retired. His hobbies are writing competitions and crossword puzzles.

LondonGirl is not allowed to know which applicant is which. London Girl sets them an extensive grammar test and an essay to write. She marks their papers. The bloke with the credentials scores 10% whereas our bus driver gets 99%. Big problem now. Do we give the job to the former anyway because he has the credentials?
