How do married Westerners in China ( or other foreigners ) pose a smaller risk than foreign tourists? In one year, any married man or woman could have multiple sexual partners. It is a well established FACT that many married laowai in China ( and also most married Chinese men ) use whores on a regular basis. BTW, FYI, the high prevelance of STD's in China is self-inflicted: mostly it originated in Henan province. When you have Chinese women with dozens of sexual partners then what do you expect? Not that I'm just blaming the women, Chinese men are obviously to blame also. Casual sex and ONS is more widespread and acceptable in China than it is in the West.

Also, at one stage I lived in China with a legal Residence Permit sponsored by a university and did not take a medical for two and a half years. I was never asked to do one.

This topic is generally stupid, as FT's ( and also every Chinese adult ) would have to be tested for STD's every week in order to keep STD's in check.

He brought up valid concerns regarding the stupid and frequent requirements for married-to-Chinese-men to undergo regular medical examinations; and also English not properly translated from Chinese concerning said requirements; and I have rather muddied the waters and distracted from continued discussions of the points he wanted discussed.
