Hello there,
I have taught for 9 years in the States and took a Trinity CertTESOL in Prague and found it very worthwhile. The problem was and is that the only grading done by a numeric score was the final exam in which I scored the equivalent of a B. The rest of the course was a very subjective and I must say very biased tutor evaluation. I was told by one other student that one of the tutors hated me. I tried to be a "GOOD" student, participating in the class and answering when I could and not trying to be too smart. That did not work out very well. I refuted 2 Practice teaching evaluations that were not accurate and which contradicted what happened in the lessons. That was very insubordinate of me. After all, I had paid the $2000,just to be a submissive and accept a distorted version of what I had done in the lessons from these 2 people.
What kind of objectivity can be brought to a bigoted grading process with this kind of sophomoric emotion entering into the final grade? I think the male tutor actually felt that I was a better teacher than he. I have very good U.S. references and I got on famously with the Czech students. They were Great people to be with.
I have recently completed an M.B.A. and have a GPA of 3.83, but barely squeezed out a C in the OxFRAUDTEFL Konvitska 24 program. Needless to say, I am saying it all to you right here.
Don't go there!! Again ,I feel that the Trinity course is excellent for anyone, even experienced teachers, because dealing with non native speakers is a sensitive process. But if you want Trinity go to Prague Schools.
