In order to prevent the complications of hypercholesterolemia, a change in diet is necessary. Featured below is a list of foods that help to lower cholesterol.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is rich in soluble fiber, which is very important to treat or prevent hypercholesterolemia. Aside from this, it is also essential to decrease the LDL or low density lipoprotein. Walnuts

Walnuts are very helpful in the functioning of blood vessels. Based on a report released by the Food and Drug Administration, eating 1.5 ounces of walnuts a day can prevent the development of different heart diseases. Other foods that have the same nutritional value with walnuts are almonds, pine nuts, pecans and pistachio nuts.

Fish

If you are having problems with lowering your blood cholesterol level, it is important that you include fish in your daily diet.
