Dave's ESL Cafe May 2010 (General)
By/Re:Beijing Barry

Has anyone noticed that the trustworthy old-timers (2004-2008) are mostly absent from Dave's ESL Forum? "Helpful" posts are vague at best. There are one-post wonders who show up, ask for information, then contribute nothing. They disappear. Worse, several members appear to have multiple screen names which the website does nothing to stop. In the China forums, the moderator is a hothead who doesn't answer PMs. Instead, he comes in, guns blazing, edits messages, then makes a threat that if anyone addresses the questioner (usually for asking questions that really say, "Boy, are you a moron"), sanctions will be imposed (which usually means that when the moderator's hangover hits, whoever had the gall to post after his warning appears is banned from the forum).

Daves was once a great source of information, and a pretty good place to look for a job. Now, the job board is full of jobs posted by fly-by-night recruiters who offer the lowest wages. The website does NOTHING to police its client recruiters. The responsible oldtimers rarely show up to offer advice for fear that they too will be banned for running afoul of the moderator's post-baiju irritable moods.

Aside from ESL Teacher's board, what other forums are out there?
