I can tell you all that Pete is quite mistaken, there is not an "abundance" of private tutoring work within Hong Kong that is up for grabs. If you are lucky enough to work in a good school frequented children with rich parents, then indeed you "may" be able to drum up a fair amount of on the side business. That said, this is not usually the case, and truth b told, there are not that many people looking to learn English in Hong Kong. In truth if you don't have a degree and work already set up, trying to find work within the country itself is very difficult. Finding students to tutor privately if you don't know the city is equally difficult, maybe more so. Even if you are a long timer there, don't hold your breath finding private students. There are rare exceptions, but for the most part HK is a rough place to make a go teaching English, the market is just too saturated with foreigners.
