Plays in the Classroom (Resources)

If you have the right class, using a play in the classroom is a great way to build enthusiasm for English as well as practice English amongst the students. Along with this there's a great feeling of satisfaction for the students in creating and putting on their own production which your school may also present to parents and other classes as well.

But going straight into a play can be quite a step. Instead, try developing the production naturally from improvised role plays. It's a step-by-step process that leads into presenting a skit based production to the school.

Start by offering the class role plays. Then have small groups develop these into mini-plays. Then put them together and have peer review before finally presenting them as a fully fledged play.
