Hi Julie
I think that many TEFL providers are accredited by different organisations. There is no central TEFL governing body and so it's best to go with a reputable company. The CELTA is widely regarded as the best TEFL certificate to get, though its expensive(£1000+). I am currently working in China after having got an 80 hour TEFL certificate from i-to-i.
It was well priced at something like £395 and was convenient to do as I was working at the time.
Lots of my friends have been successful by going down this route as well.
Regards
Craig
