You can get work in most countries around the world with a TEFL but when it comes to money don't expect much. In fact in some countries with high demand and few teachers it's even possible to get hired without a TEFL.
But in any country what TEFLers get is at least enough to live on that is cover basic necessities, go out, and buy tickets for returning home. This refers to working for a school but free lancing with private tuition pays much better though one needs to build a network first and be good at the task of teaching English.
Just beware of cowboy school owners (yes, they surely exist) who cheat and otherwise mistreat their teachers. Check out an employer's reputation first.
