Not at all, but certainly more qualified to teach adults and a much better grasp of classroom management....right now in China it is not a requirement, but a girl I know who has it pulls 20,000 rmb a month in Sichuan thanks to her having a CELTA.
I'd say it's better to have one than not...unless you are content or intend to stay at the 5,500 rmb rung forever and a day.
Horses for courses?

Twenty thousand a month sounds attractive; however, one does have to take into consideration {tax, holidays(do they pay for those) your flat, do they pay for that? hours} and many other things too numerous to particularise further. Working long hours could be good for some who want to work the whole contract, because as soon as you do take time off for unpaid holidays, your average monthly salary calculating for a full contract could start plunging towards less than half. I myself like the idea of working less hours for a lower wage, flat thrown in, my hols paid for etceteras and bags of time for traveling.

Now, if I were a younger man, I might be very ambitious and want to climb up your rungs, get promotion, become one of the staff- that's not open to FT's though, is it. The only real way forward would be the exceedingly difficult task of opening up your own school in China. That ain't easy, in Tianjin for example the education authorities want to see that you have 1000,0000 (million) RMB in a Chinese bank account for starters. I was going to go ahead with that once with a difference, a good proportion of students would be from poor families and study for free. I still might but in another province where I have a modest relationship with a local government person- I had no such contacts in Tianjin.

FT should be a good fun long holiday job, it is not a career.
