TESOL, TEFL and CELTA forum

Vietnam has become one of those ‘must go’ work locations for adventurous English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching professionals. There are plenty of work opportunities for both experienced and inexperienced English teachers.
Internationally recognised TESOL / TEFL certification is the minimum qualification to work as an English language teacher in Vietnam. The salary range for TESOL qualified English teachers in Vietnam is between $15.00 and $25.00 (net) per hour. Most teachers work between 20 and 30 hours per week.
The salary range that’s on offer for English language teachers in Vietnam needs to be balanced against the cost of living and by any measure, Vietnam is incredibly cheap. You can eat in a restaurant 3 times a day, 7 days a week and still have change from $60.00. The local beer costs 30cents for a 500ml bottle – it’s a bit rough, but you get used to it.
The Australia-Vietnam School of English (AVSE) offers a 4-week internationally recognised TESOL course in Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the Australian International College of Language based in Queensland, Australia.
Importantly, AVSE’s TESOL course in Ho Chi Minh City is accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and meets British Council requirements. The AVSE TESOL course comes with guaranteed employment and free western standard hotel accommodation within a 5 minute walk of the school, for the 4 weeks it takes to complete the study program.
