TESOL, TEFL and CELTA forum
There are two issues here.
First in regards to the scholarship, most schools won't offer one for TEFL. We offer a part scholarship for certain circumstances (unemployment, etc) and the details are here: http://tinyurl.com/y3xp2ox - however, I think ICAL are pretty unique in this matter.
The other issue is one of finances in general. Pay for newly qualified English teachers isn't brilliant. Generally speaking it's enough to rent a small apartment, lead a fairly good life getting out a couple of times a week and see the country for on holiday every now and then.
My feeling is that if you have a 9 month old baby you will be incurring a lot expenses in the near future and if you are looking at day care costs the average TEFL teacher's salary simply won't cover this. By all means pursue your dream of becoming an English teacher if that is what you want to do, but take a careful look at finances beforehand to make sure you will earn enough to support your child well.
Good luck!
