Last year I taught English in Cali. There is a high demand for ESL teachers in Cali without a doubt. The pay is pretty generous considering many of the schools foot your housing costs as well. Make sure you start your hunt for positions early though, because try to fill positions before the end of the prior school year. I didn't have a TESOL/TEFL, but was required to be "in process" of obtaining it while I taught. I didn't finish it though - grading essays took up most of my free time and enjoying all the city has to offer took up the rest.
