Interesting.
I have been teaching in Asia for several years with a B.Ed and a TEFL certificate.
Last year I registered for the CELTA program. I left as soon as I realized that the program was identical to TEFL. Of course the school would not refund my deposit. It was far more expensive, the tutors extremely abusive and the school focused on its share of the international ESL market. I was appalled to hear them promoting the certificate as equivalent to a university degree. Who are they kidding? In countries where university graduation is required to teach English, CELTA will NOT protect anyone from deportation. It's just another ESL certificate, like the others.
