It depends on the type of course but generally I’d say read the course material carefully; make sure you truly understand what is presented; do a bit of extra research if you feel a particular aspect is not quite clear to you; if your course requires you to submit written coursework, make sure you stick to the point, are clear in your presentation and show creativity.

If you course offers tutor's guidance then make the most of it and interact with your personal tutor as much as possible.

If your course includes a practicum observe carefully the teacher and the students; ask questions; take notes; compare what you witness in class with what you study in the course, and simply enjoy the experience!
