Hi all, I am an EFL Teacher in Greece and am trying to immigrate to Canada, my country of origin, in order to work and further my studies. I already have a Degree in English, am a native English Speaker and have been teaching English for more than two years now as a qualified EFL Teacher. The thing is, I am trying to get accredited to be able to teach in Vancouver where I wish to migrate, but I haven't completed any TEFL or CELTA training as I attended methodology courses in University and didn't actually need any extra training. Getting assessed via PLAR seems too costly and I've started thinking, maybe it would be worthwhile to complete a TEFL program in Canada? That way I won't need to go through the whole accreditation process and will be able to get a job more easily. However, with my experience, I find it ridiculous to go through basic teaching stuff with a CELTA course. I can't afford a MEd in Teaching and was wondering if you could recommend any TEFL/TESOL/equivalent courses in Canada for experienced teachers rather than beginners?
