Tips for Traveling with Small Children
By:Jacquelyn Butler

Traveling is not always a smooth experience, especially when traveling with small children. You are likely to travel more than once a year to visit relatives and go on a vacation or two and its important during the travel experience that you and your children have a good time. Traveling can leave you tired, cranky, and a bit sluggish from your journey as well as the kids. Keep these important tips in mind when vacationing to make sure that your trip runs more comfortably:

*Make sure you pack all your Children's necessities like underwear, socks, pajamas, shirts, shorts, pants, long sleeved shirts, and a jacket or sweater in case the weather gets cooler. You may need to pack two or three of each depending on how long your trip is. Also remember all the children's medication, vitamins, bath & body wash, shampoo, hair brush or anything else that they might need during the trip. You can never be too prepared when you have a child around.

*You may have some lag time in between flights so remember to pack some snack packs such as crackers, cheese, sausage, etc. You may also want to add some sweets like cookies or a cupcake to calm their cravings and appetite until you arrive at your destination.

*Be sure to pack some entertaining things for the children to do: coloring books and crayons, books to read, and/or a few little toys that they may enjoy. Make sure to pack them on the outside of their bag so that they will not lose them during their trip. It may leave your vacation a little bit unbearable if your child loses their precious toy.

*Keep your children with you at all times. Children like to run around and airports are full of people coming and going. Be sure to keep a tight grip. You never know what could happen. The same if you go on a cruise, resort or hotel.

*To prevent crankiness in between flights, be sure to let your children get as much rest as possible on the airplane. You want your kids refreshed and awake to enjoy the beginning of your vacation after the long flight. You may also want to take another nap with the children when you arrive at the hotel or cabin on your cruise in case they are still feeling sluggish.

*If your child has any allergies or any type of respiratory problems, notify the staff on your tour to have special foods available so that no harm will be done.

*Remember to have a Good Time!

Traveling with children is not always easy; that's why it is always important to prepare so that you will all enjoy your time away together and make the journey a memorable experience.
