Uh, you're wrong. There are not "nazi/police state" rules about this. The 3-ounce in a 1-quart bag "liquids rule" does not apply to medical supplies. You just have to let them know when you go through security so they know what it is. Nursing mothers can bring pre-pumped breast milk. People who wear prostheses (such as post-mastectomy breast prosthetics) that are often filled with liquid are allowed those items.

Granted the ititial government reaction was a knee-jerk response, as cooler heads are prevailing the rules are becoming more common sense. Knitting needles and small scissors are allowed on flights.
