Top 7 Important Tips That Will Keep You Out of Danger When Traveling the World
By:Benny Horowitz

While traveling, dangerous situations can be considered both small and life - threatening incidents. Avoiding dangerous circumstances is the key to a peaceful trip. Remember the following tips in order to keep out of danger.

1. Don't talk to strangers
Parents always tell their children: "never talk to strangers". Except for occasionally asking the way, respect this rule even as a grown-up and keep the contact with strangers to a minimum. Be considerate when approached, but don't become too familiar with people you see for the first time in your life.

2. Don't go out at night
Unless visiting a well lit location, together with a larger group, avoid going out at night to places known for their conspicuous "reputation". Do not walk at night in poorly lit and empty parks.

3. Get to know the places
Run an extensive research on your destination before you leave so as, when you actually get there, it will not look completely strange to you. Try to get quickly accustomed with places in order to decide what is and is not worth seeing.

4. Respect rules
Each place comes with its own set of rules and limitations. Still, there is also an international set of rules which makes use of a common visual language. A sign with a cross over it will always mean "DO NOT DO... what the picture is showing". Respect the rules meant for your own safety!

5. Know the emergency numbers
Always carry an emergency contact number from home which can be easily found on you. Also, always try to find out which is the three-digit emergency number of the country you are currently visiting, that you can call in case of emergency.

6. Don't show off
Dress casual and do not behave differently from the people around you. Your camera and backpack may betray your being a tourist. But as long as you are polite and do not stand out through an outrageous behavior, you will not be consider an intruder, and thus will not be treated as such.

7. Defend yourself
Travel light in order to be able to escape or defend yourself if you are the victim of an unfortunate event. Make noise, call for help and be creative in finding means to fight back.
