Safe Flying - 9 Tips
By:Bill Brennan

Avoid situations and events that can make flying stressful. Whilst you will find nearly all airline trips uneventful, these few tips will reduce even further the chance of problems.

1. A flight departing early in the day is less likely to be delayed than a later flight. Bearing in mind that if you do happen to book the last flight of the day, you could get stuck overnight - this has happened to me.

2. If, when booking you have a choice between two or more connections and if price; service; weather are all comparable, then choose the connecting flight at the less busy airport. This will reduce the risk of missing your flight.

3. Now days, this is fairly compulsory, but make sure you have a photo ID with you when checking in. And, as most airlines won't allow tickets to be sold or given to other persons ensure your name on the ticket is exactly the same as it appears on your ID.

4. Whilst at the check in counter, when you receive your ticket, check to make sure all of the information on it is correct, including your name. This way you can have any necessary corrections made immediately and don't have to get back in line.

5. You might be able to reduce your fare after you have bought it. Keep an eye on the price of the flight and if it does go down, you might be able to get the airline to refund the difference. It won't happen if you don't ask.

6. The day before your flight, reconfirm your reservation to double check the flight has not changed. It does happen.

7. Check in as early as you can. Airlines sometimes oversell flights and if you are too late you'll miss out.

8. Ensure you luggage has an ID tag on it. It is also a good idea to have a second ID on the inside.

9. Report any damaged, or missing baggage to the airline immediately.

Follow these simple steps and your next flight will be much less stressful.
