Travel Tips

When on Vacation, Bring What You Need
By:Kurt A. Schefken

Many people recommend that when going on a vacation, it is best to pack light. In fact, traveling with a light suitcase has been a common rule for many years. It is in fact, a very common and simple guide that is still one of the most broken rules of traveling. As always, some of the most simple rules are always the hardest to follow!

When one packs for a trip they feel that they need to pack everything; especially if they are going to be using it on the trip! However, because of the anticipation if the trip, the luggage ends up being extremely heavy; too heavy for the short amount of time you're going to be on vacation.

When packing for a vacation or trip, there are some guides lines that you should follow; and they are:

• Always take in consideration how long your trip will be. If your visits are 1-3 days, you should be able to fit everything into a luggage that you can carry; such as a carry on. You may add one extra outfit, just in case of accidents; any more than that you are only putting unwanted weight into the bag. If you find out that you have to stay longer, you can always go and buy a new outfit or have your other clothes washed.

• Make sure you know what the nature of the trip is, or what kind of events will you be going to. The different events should be the base of what type of outfits you will bring. However, if you are unsure of the events brings clothes that are dressy yet casual.

• To save space while packing, you may want to roll the clothes to allow more items to fit into the luggage. You will always want to put the heavier items on the bottom; and the smaller, lighter things on the top or to fill in holes.

• If at some point you get souvenirs, it would be cheaper and easier to have them shipped home rather than fighting to fit it into your suitcase; however, you will want to make sure they are insured. Otherwise, you could always have your clothes shipped home so that you can keep on eye on your souvenirs!

If you follow some of the rules to packing luggage, next time you have to go on a trip, you should have no problems; especially with your luggage!!
