How to Find the Tilde on a PC Keyboard
By:Marina Martin
The tilde symbol (~) resembles a horizontal squiggle mark. A tilde has multiple uses: use it before a word in a Google search to find results with that term of any of its synonyms, put it above the letter "n" to make the Spanish letter ñ or put a tilde in front of a number to indicate an approximation. Nearly every American PC keyboard has a tilde key, usually on the same key as the accent mark (`). If your keyboard is missing a tilde key, you can use the tilde in the On Screen Keyboard.
On Screen Keyboard
Click the "Start" button.
Type "osk" without the quotation marks in the blank box.
Press "Enter" to load the On Screen Keyboard.
Click the tilde key (~) to type a tilde.
Look for the tilde (~) key on your keyboard, particularly in the top left corner. It may share a key with another symbol, such as the accent (`) mark. If the tilde shares a key with another mark, you may need to hold "Shift" while pressing the tilde key to type a tilde.
