These tools are a great way for teachers to teach students about current and world events. Furthermore, it gets students interested in the daily news and some will begin to read the morning newspaper or watch the nightly news with their parents.

Zoos, aquariums and companies such as National Geographic have tapped into the power of web cams. They allow students to view animals hanging out at the zoo, surviving in their natural habitats, giving birth to babies and even being operated on in a clinic.
