How to Build a Small Business Website for Your Solo Practice
By:Stacy Fox

Many people ask me how to build a small business website because I did it for my husband's solo law practice. They seem to think that it will cost them a lot of money to have a professionally designed internet site done by a graphic and web design team.

Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, graphic artists can do whiz-bang jobs on the look of your site, but they know nothing about the content and context of what makes your company attractive to the people who actually visit your site.

You don't need flash, animation, or any other gee-whiz tools. You need to have compelling content that presells your visitors on your products and services.

How to build a small business website starts with making a list of the services and products your company provides. Under each one, list the questions people ask you about it. Then, go about writing a 350-500 word article answering the questions.

Most people don't go to the internet to buy, the go to get information that will help them solve their problems. If that information points to a good or service that will help them, they will be inclined to buy. Furthermore, they will be inclined to buy from the company that has provided the most useful information.

So, once you have written articles on the things your company has to offer, you will want to develop pages such as "about us" and "contact us" to round out your site.

Then, it's a matter of putting your page live. To do this, I recommend Site Build It, which you can get more information in the resource box below.

This takes you step by step through the process of taking your text and turning it into a live web site. And, the professionally designed templates are perfect for business.

It takes a little bit of work to build a small business website, and plenty of small business owners feel it's not worth the hassle. They'd rather pay someone to do it for them.

But that's really the wrong strategy. No graphic artist can know your business as well as you do. You can answer your potential customer's questions because you hear them all day long.

And, that's how to build a small business website.

Stacy Fox has developed a successful local small business website for her husband, a divorce attorney. She'd like to share with you how she did it on her Small Business Website Marketing blog http://smallbusinesswebsitemarketing.blogspot.com/
