Writing and Public Speaking
You want to write a book. You know the topic that you would like to write about and youre excited! The possibilities that come about with being an author start rolling through your mind. You look to the internet for help in the process and you start to see all the eBooks all over the place and ePublishers and eBookstores. The idea from writing a book to writing an eBook takes over. Whether you write to market the book yourself or get it to a publisher to market the goal is to get the book sold. There are things that you need to do in order to be appealing to the masses. Here are some simple steps to help you create the best selling eBook.
The first and probably the most vital key is to know your topic. While it seems to go with out saying, that you need to write about what you know or at least research what you are writing about, it is amazing at the numbers of eBooks out there that have been written by people that have no idea of what they are talking about. Your eBook will not be a best seller if it doesnt make sense. Have first hand knowledge of your topic, research any area that you arent sure about. Know your topic.
The second step would be to pick a unique topic or different point of view of the topic. The one thing that the internet has done is give consumers options, more options then going to the local mall. So why would someone buy your eBook and not the nest guys? Your eBook will be unique. You offer information on a topic that hasnt been explored elsewhere. Bringing attention to a topic that hasnt had wide coverage will help increase your sales. A different point of view, if you want to write about a subject that has wide coverage then make your point of reference unique, or offer the reader bonuses that only you have to offer. Draw them in with exclusive features and uniqueness.
Back up what you are saying would be the third step. While it would seem that it is very similar to step one of knowing your topic, it goes beyond that. You need to be able to offer supporting information to what you are saying in the book. You do this by offering statistical information or comparison to other views on the topic. The reader wants proof that you do know what you are talking about.
Write your eBook from the readers perspective. It is always a great selling point when the customer can relate to what is being sold to them. How it fits into their life and compares with their experiences. Make your reader a part of your writing. You do this by writing like you are talking to a friend. This makes the reading experience more personal and less like reading a textbook. This simple technique can help increase loyalty to the author. Think about your favorite author, why are they your favorite? They draw you in and make you want more.
Make your eBook personal and easy to understand. Use real life experiences in your writing. Connect with the reader; you want to be on their level. While you may be a professional at what you are writing about remember that you are not writing for other professionals. The average person needs to understand what you are talking about. Again using a casual tone and easy to understand words will help in this area. Offer examples in your writing as well. Most people learn from example better then by just being told the technique. You can include photos and or graphs in your text these will also beneficial. It gives the reader a way to connect to what they just read.
You know whether you are strong on spelling or grammar. If you know you are rubbish then have your eBook proofread. While you may be trying to control cost in producing your eBook, this is one small expense that you need to have. Dont think that you will be able to do it yourself. After all the work put into creating we sometimes miss the little errors that can spoil the whole project. There is nothing worse then reading an eBook and finding misspelled words and poor grammar. These errors will send your eBook to the bottom of any selling list, it wont matter how well you know your topic or the bonuses you offer if it looks like a three year old wrote it. If you are good at spelling and grammar get someone whop you know is good as well to have a look at it.
Make sure that your eBook is can be viewable by PCs and Macs. With all the software available to write eBooks not all software works with both types of computers. Dont limit your consumers by computer type. And keep your file size small. Sounds like a silly suggestion to create a best seller, but a huge majority of people are still using dial up net services and have not upgraded to cable or DSL. What does this have to do with you and your eBook? Download time. The joy of the internet is instant access to what we want. If it is going to take me ten minutes to download your book as opposed to another book that may be just as good and only take three minutes, Im opting for the later.
Get busy and start writing your eBook. These wonderful bits of information and suggestions will help you create a best selling eBook. Bringing loyal readers that will not be able to wait for your next release. You can do it, it can be done, you will be a best selling author of the next hottest eBook on the net.
