Who says you have to be serious or a conformist when writing articles. After all, some of the best things we read are written by humorists or contrarians. Writing in the world of internet marketing about optimization, keywords, lists, affliates, autoresponders, squeeze pages, etc. can be pretty dull stuff for some of us.

Now granted you have to be somewhat professional in your approach. Its important to keep in mind that we're supposed to be helping others. This doesnt mean we can't see things from a different perspective, or heaven forbid! commit it to record. It may turn out, that contrarian idea will lead to a revolutionary new marketing concept.

New ideas are implemented all the time by people who dare to be different in the boldness of their thinking. In fact there is a popular saying right now that epitomizes that very thought: Think outside the box. In many cases these ideas are just recycled thoughts of the past, but with a whole new twist, that gives them fresh new life. I've even read where banner advertising is making a comeback.

Similarly, injecting a bit of humor might not be a bad idea, especially at the beginning of an article. When visitors opt in to your page, if there isnt something that captures there attention, they wont stay around too long. If you can elicit a smile or chuckle from the start chances are good theyll stay with you.

So how do you do that? Think of current events from politics, to entertainment, to sports etc. As youre writing your piece, try and equate something from one of those topics to something relevant and humorous to your article.

For example, if youre writing an article about affiliate marketing and one of your latest promotional efforts brought a nice spike in income you might say, I havent seen this big of a surge since George Bushs latest Iraq plan. Ok, maybe not the greatest, but thats off the top of my head. With a little thought you can do better. Why didn't I give you a contrarian idea? I'll save those for myself should I get any.

Anyway, you might give these two suggestions a try. If this is not something you feel comfortable with, leave it alone. If you force ideas you are uncomfortable with, they will probably sound contrived. This could hurt you in the long run
