PhD proofreading tips in the UK
By:Michael
A PhD is a labour of love and intellect. When you have been working on your document for so long you become unable to spot errors that someone else is able to. The problem is: where do you find somebody who will pay the necessary care and attention to your document? It is all well and good to ask a friend or colleague, but other than bribing them, they are also apt to miss errors.
Here are some quick proofreading tips:
1) Never proofread when you are tired
2) Read difficult sections backwards first, then forwards. This useful trick really works.
3) Read it out loud also is of great help! This creates "cognitive dissonance" in your brain which helps your mind to focus.
