3 Quick and Easy Ways to Become an Awesome Writer
By:Sabrina S Siracusa

There are tons of how-to books out there claiming they can turn you into a better, faster writer. Many are good, some are just plain awful. I often wonder how they even got published. But that is another article for another day!

What I am going to do today is save you time (and a little bit of cash) by giving you the 3 quick and easy ways to become an awesome writer! After reading my fair share of how-to books, I have narrowed it down to 3 steps to take every day to become an awesome writer!

1) Read. Not only does it improve your vocabulary, it helps you increase the speed in which you can absorb the written word. This will help you tremendously when you are searching for work and of course, when you are writing. I recommend you spend at least one hour reading every day. Almost anything you read will help you as a writer. Even the bad books because they will teach you how not to write!

2) Write. This should be the most obvious tip, but one many writers fail to follow. That old cliché, "practice makes perfect" is old for a reason. Between writing projects? Write up your website, bio, query letter, blog, etc., etc. You will also become a faster and more accurate typist. And the faster you can type the more work you can get through which could mean more money at the end of the day! It almost does not matter what you write as long as you write. Every day.

3) Expand your vocabulary. Nothing is worse than reading content that is repetitious. Boring! That is usually a giveaway that the writer is either lazy or inexperienced. Not sure which is worse as far as clients are concerned. Avoid falling into that undesirable group! Besides reading, you can expand your vocabulary by referring to a dictionary often while writing. A great writer knows how to say the same thing 10 different ways. You can also have a new word Twittered, texted or emailed daily in your inbox by signing up with Merriam Webster at http://www.merriam-webster.com/

Obviously there are many more tips available out there to make you a stronger writer, but following these 3 simple tips everyday will put you heads above the crowd. And by keeping the momentum going, you will attract more work. Now get to writing!
