As qualified instructors, we combine Canadian cultural experiences, English language immersion, and instruction to create a well-rounded program. Our friendly homestay atmosphere makes learning fun. Located in Maitland, Nova Scotia, our home is a heritage property and a unique place to stay.

Our regular program includes:

3 meals per day (at home and while sightseeing)
Homestay accommodation in your instructors' home
Overnight accommodation during program-related travel
Pickup and drop-off at Halifax International Airport
15 hours/week of organized "English as a Second Language" based activities
Interactive language learning ( homestay activities, community events, sightseeing)
Transportation and admission to all program-related activities and events
All program-related materials and supplies
In-home access to e-mail and Internet
English immersion in everyday Canadian home life

Activities are different each week according to:

the time of year you arrive

which festivals and events are taking place

your interests and hobbies

availability of outside classes or instructors

seasonal schedule at "Howe House"

All activities:

improve English communication skills

expose you to Nova Scotian and Canadian heritage and culture

provide entertainment and a variety of experiences

Sample activities may include:

cultural: family activities, museums, festivals, live theatre, concerts, sporting events...

physical: gardening, golfing, skiing, tidal bore rafting, horseback riding, camping...

travel: day trips/overnight trips in Nova Scotia

social: community activities, art classes, crafts, shopping, parties, volunteering...

seasonal: Valentine's Day, Easter, Canada Day, Halloween, Christmas, New Years...
