Elvia Taylor, our Executive Director, created Crossing Borders in 2002. Elvia wanted the different people of Houston to learn more than just a new language. She wanted them to have a chance to explore diverse cultures too. She began teaching her students a second language through a holistic approach using books, but also incorporating art, dance, and traditional cooking lessons from her native Mexico. Elvia definitely went the extra mile to ensure that her students received a well-rounded cultural education.

Today, Crossing Borders offers more than just English and Spanish classes. Our linguistic expertise now extends to French, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, and Dutch. Crossing Borders also offers translations, interpretations, curriculum, and lots more!
