Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City
School:British International School - Vietnam

The British International School, Vietnam offers a British style education to the international community of Ho Chi Minh City. A British education and qualifications are recognized, valued and respected around the world and is a thorough preparation for students to progress to colleges and universities of their choice in any country.

The three campuses are first class facilities resourced to the highest level and staffed with dedicated, skilled and committed teachers, ensuring the education on offer is amongst the very best available anywhere in the world. Our teaching teams are strong and innovative, constantly re-visiting ways of bringing the curriculum to life. Often this is done using the most modern technology but our classrooms remain ordered and disciplined and we place great value on trusting relationships between students and their teachers.

In August 1997 a pre-school called Tiny Tots was established in a villa on Nguyen Van Thu Street in District 1. Starting with only two classes, two overseas teachers and 40 toddlers, Tiny Tots quickly became the pre-school of choice for expatriates living in Ho Chi Minh City. Building on this success a second pre-school called Fundino was quickly established in District 3. The original Tiny Tots villa was extended in

2000 to accommodate an additional 10 primary classrooms bringing the total school roll to 300 children. This was the first year the school was officially called The British International School, with Ms Marjorie Hunt being the first Head Teacher.

Two years later a new Primary campus was built in the residential An Phu area of the city. Mr Alun Thomas was appointed as Principal of the three campuses and enrolment jumped to 600 children. In August of 2005 a purpose built Secondary campus was opened on land close to the new Primary campus in An Phu. The number of students on roll had now risen to almost 1,000.

In August 2007 another new primary school was built on Tu Xuong Street in District 3, combining the Nguyen Van Thu campus and the Fundino campus into one new school. Mr Shaun Williams was appointed as Principal and the school role had risen to 1,350 children aged 2 – 18.

The school is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and continues to grow from strength to strength. In this short period of time The British International School, Vietnam has become the school of choice in Ho Chi Minh City and is now recognized as a leading international school in South and East Asia.
