Our curriculum is based on the objectives and enquiry based approach to teaching and learning of the International Baccalaureate programmes. We emphasize the development of the whole child, teaching them not just what to learn, but more importantly, how to learn. We are proud of the academic achievement of our students in the context of an "IB World".

The International School Ho Chi Minh City was the first international school to open in HCMC, and while 13 years is still relatively young, the school has always focused on the provision of quality educational standards. As a result the school has reached some remarkable milestones, not the least of which was becoming one of the youngest schools to be admitted as a full member to the Council of International Schools (CIS) in January 1999. Since its inception, the school has grown from strength to strength, increasing services and facilities,and gaining recognition as an "IB World School", authorised to teach the continuum ofIB programmes.

Currently there are 850 students from 31 different nationalities enrolled with the five largest representations coming from Korea, Vietnam, United States, Australia and Japan.

The IB curriculum was specifically created to meet the needs of an internationally mobile student body, and at its core is the requirement to take into consideration the needs of the whole child. It is a well-rounded course of studies, offering not only a very challenging academic knowledge-based curriculum, but also considers the personal and emotional development of students.

A four year programme (Grades 9-12) leads to the ISHCMC High School Diploma, which is recognised by American colleges as having the same equivalency as an American High School Diploma. In terms of external qualificationstaught at ISHCMC, the IBMYP Certificate is offered in Grades 9 and 10, and the 2-year IB Diploma and Certificate programme is offered in Grades 11 and 12.

The teaching faculty is predominantly British, Australian and North American. Thirteen nationalities are represented, and all are fully qualified (more than one third hold a Masters Degree). Two expatriate nurses and a full-time counsellor operate from the main campus.

The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools that serves some 660 schools worldwide. CIS accreditation is recognised in the United States through the Recognition Program of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
