You should get an invitation letter from the company you're going to work with when you are outside of China, and get your working visa outside of China. It is okay to come to China with a tourist visa and transfer it, but during the time it's being transferred you MUST NOT WORK.
What do you mean by come to China with a tourist visa and transfer it? Is that a situation where someone has a z-visa which has not yet been submitted for residency, but arrives on a tourist visa because they want to do some traveling in the country before they start work?
I may want to arrive about 6-8 weeks before my job starts. Is that a way to do it?
Any input would be much appreciated.
