Shengda University has come a long way since its Founder, Mr. Wang, cycled from door to door to establish his first school. The university is now one of a successful chain of higher education, spreading across mainland China and Taiwan. Situated in the heart of the Middle Kingdom, Henan is home to China's 3,500-year history and is only a stone's throw away from several of the country's most visited attractions.

Henan Province has a population of about 93 million and is developing at an incredible rate due to most of the country's vast rail network passing through. The pace of change has created an interesting place to observe China's transformation into the 21st century. But Henan is not yet as highly developed as Shanghai or Beijing, and Zhengzhou city is one of the few places left in the country to get a true taste of traditional Chinese life while observing the transformation.

The University is situated a short bus ride away from the city center in the Twin Lakes Developing Zone. The area is alive with students as it is host to three large universities and several schools. The campus caters for over 16,000 students and has several picturesque lakes, pagodas, causeways and bridges. The students are always making use of the excellent sports facilities sited around the 700,000 sq meter campus. The accommodation is cozy with all living necessities. There are a gym, a game room where you can build up your health and have fun with other foreign teachers, TV rooms and Movie rooms in which students can be invited on the ground floor of the new Foreign Experts' Building.

With only 18 hours teaching per week, there is lots of time to master the Chinese language, mix with both teachers and students, or pop into town on the daily free school bus to go shopping. As Henan is one of the least developed provinces, the cost of living is exceptionally low and with a local workers salary set at between 500 and 1000 RMB, you will have more than enough to do everything you want in China and take a little home with you.
