PROFILE

I am a hard-working and enthusiastic ESL teacher with over five years’ experience. I have taught various age groups, levels and class sizes, I am currently teaching small groups of students of all ages and levels. I have experience in the administrative duties required at an educational institution, such as compiling a curriculum. Equally, I can adhere to a set syllabus. I have worked adeptly as part of a team of teachers, and would bring that same cooperative spirit and efficiency to my next position. As I have taught such a variety of age groups and levels I can adapt my teaching style easily to meet the needs of any prospective student. My leisure interests include language exchanges, traveling, football, and meeting new people.

CAREER HISTORY

Instituto Exclusivo, La Paz, Bolivia (November 2014 – Present)
In this current position, I am teaching very small private classes of adults and teenagers. My main roles and achievements in this position to date include
• Prepared a student for their Cambridge ESOL Key English Test (KET).
• Taught a student via Skype for IELTS preparation
• Taught on-site classes at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
• Trained new and experienced teachers
• Prepared a student for TOEIC preparation
• Taught on-site classes at NGO Christian Aid

British English Centre, La Paz, Bolivia (August 2014 – May 2015)
While working with BEC I taught using textbooks including Backpack, In Sync and Cutting Edge as well as teaching private students without textbooks. My main roles and achievements in this job to date are:
• Successfully promoting the language centre at a ‘Day of Languages’ event.
• Guiding a class from Cutting Edge: Upper Intermediate to Advanced
• Provided an tailored curriculum to a younger private student and to several older students.
• Taught using an interesting mix of activities new to the students
• Provided numerous cover lessons often with little notice

Aihua Foreign Languages Academy, Beijing, China (February 2013 – February 2014)
Whilst working for Aihua, I taught using Backpack and Pockets textbooks to only younger students (ages 5-11). My main roles and achievements included:
• Taking several classes as a teacher trainer including a demo lesson, a presentation on teaching reading and an activity swap for very young learners
• Successfully guided many classes between differing levels of Backpack and Pockets
• Promoted the school at several events
• Provided a large number of activities for differing age groups
• Observed and provided feedback on a large number of colleagues
• Gained and utilized valuable knowledge from other colleagues
• Helped to run and oversee various holiday celebration activities (Christmas, Halloween etc)
• Had great working relationships with all my Chinese co-teachers

CitySmart, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (September 2012 – February 2013)
I taught very young to young learners during my time at CitySmart using Fast Track and Kid’s Box textbooks and learning programmes. My main roles and achievements were:
• Successfully completing several demo classes which included students and parents observing
• Utilized Interactive White Boards in all my lessons
• Guided my main class up a level on the Fast Track programme

Stamford Grammar, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (September 2011 – August 2012)
When I taught at this school I was the home room teacher for an Infants level class and I taught a second similar level class each day after my main class. The students were all very young learners (Ages 2-4) and the school had its own flexible curriculum. My main roles and achievements were:
• Successfully wrote up my own curriculum for my class
• Organised English themed talent show performances
• Integrated many students of differing levels into my classes successfully
• Participated in Parents Evenings and got excellent feedback
• Instilled great discipline in my classes

Today Education, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (March 2011 – July 2012)
This was an evening job primarily which involved teaching small groups of adults using the language centre’s own curriculum, it also involved teaching young learners occasionally
• Taught off-sites in various primary and secondary schools
• Included in one curriculum was basic Math and Science in English
• Students were at varying levels of English often in the same class
• Also taught at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology as part of this job

Assumption College Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand (February 2010 – February 2011)
My first ESL teaching job involved teaching primarily large classes of teenagers and also differing grades of very young and young learners
• Managed to successfully teach very large classes (50+ students)
