When to Visit

Most people feel that spring and fall are the best seasons for a trip to Greece. If you want to avoid the hot weather, plan your trip during May and June, or during September and October. Especially in the case of the islands of Greece, tourism comes to a halt during the winter season. You'll also find that many of the restaurants and hotels close down between mid-November and early April. Ferry and bus services are also spotty during the winter. By the time mid-November arrives, the pleasant days of autumn will disappear, replaced by weather that can be surprisingly cold. Depending on the area, you can even expect to see snow during the winter months.

High Season

If you are up for some really hot weather, try visiting Greece during mid-June through late August. Although all the tourist attractions and activities will be open, you'll have to deal with temperatures that are frequently above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. However, if you can tolerate the heat, you're sure to have a great time, since summer is party time in Greece. You'll find plenty of tour groups visiting, and the beaches will be quite crowded. Of course, this time of year is also when you'll find the highest prices - that is, if you are even able to find accommodations that are not booked solid.

Spring in Greece

Many people consider the Easter holiday season to be the perfect time for a trip to Greece. The tourist season is just starting at this time, so the beaches are much less crowded. The weather is pleasant and warm during this time frame throughout most of Greece. It's a great time to take in the sights and tourist attractions without being hindered by the crowds that are common during the summer season. You also shouldn't have a problem finding accommodations. Because public transportation schedules are back in full force by this time, traveling from place to place is much easier.
