John, you misunderstood my post. Philipinos teach themselves English. Chinese can do the same (Same is true of Korea.). There are lots of local language teachers in China, many who need jobs. I said teaching in China was a charitable act for foreigners as the pay is so so low. If a foreigner goes, then go ahead for your own reasons like tourism and cultural study.
