Teaching in India can be fun and interestingly teachers are given a great respect in community in general, very much like Police and Firefighter in U.S.

In this article I will talk about 2 courses B.ED (Bachelors of Education) and M.ED (Masters of Education), which is a requirement in most Indian schools and non-science universities.

Teachers play a very important role in a student’s life. It’s a teacher who guides a student through his or her career. So it is very significant to be adequately equipped with resources that will create the teacher an ideal role model to the students. To achieve this, D.ED, B.ED or M.ED courses were introduced, which will teach a person about teaching and the different aspects associated with it.

In India, Bachelor of Education(B.Ed) is a course offered for those interested in pursing career in teaching. The B.Ed degree is mandatory for teaching in higher primary schools and high schools. The minimum qualification required for entry into BEd course is Bachelor of Arts(B.A),Bachelor of Science (BSc)or Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com). While students from arts stream are trained to teach subjects like history, civics, geography and languages. The students from science stream are trained to teach mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. After BEd, students can purse Master in Education (MEd) in Indian universities. National Council for Teacher Education is statutory body which regulates coureses in teaching in India. (ref: wikipedia.org)
