India is the largest country in the Indian subcontinent in the south of Asia. Though it's the seventh largest country in the world by area, it's second only to China in population. India prides itself on being the largest democracy on earth (by population). It's also an extremely diverse country, with vast differences in geography, climate, culture, language and ethnicity across its expanse.

India Tourist Destinations

Delhi : Holiday at Delhi, the capital city of India will expose you to innumerable facets of Indian heritage, culture, and tourism. It will be a vacation much beyond just monuments, museums or gardens of the Mughal and British period. For it also offers you a wealth of new age tourist attractions to choose from. Visit the world-renowned high-arched memorial of India Gate that hosts the parade of the nation's Republic Day and has inscriptions of all soldiers martyred in the freedom struggle of the nation.

Visit the magnificent Red Fort, which is the venue for India's Independence Day celebrations. You could choose to pray peacefully at the Lotus shaped Bahai House and the Lakshmi Narayan temple, or party at any of the pubs or discotheques in this modern city.

Himachal Pradesh : Nestled in the Himalayas, the world's mightiest mountain ranges, Himachal is blessed with some of the most spectacular landscapes anywhere. Truly a travellers paradise, with mighty snow peaks, deep gorges, lush green and golden valleys, flower filled meadows, misty woods, fast flowing icy rivers, glaciers and enchanting lakes. While the picturesque valleys of Kullu, Kinnaur and Kangra are a riot of colours, in marked contrast the barren terrain of Lahaul & Spiti have a stunning lunar landscape like beauty.

Uttranchal : Uttranchal - picturesque state, with a breathtaking panoramic view of Himalayas, Uttaranchal promises its tourists a visit full of fun and unforgettable moments. The land of celestial beauty, Uttaranchal is blessed with magnificent glaciers, majestic snow-clad mountains, gigantic and ecstatic peaks, valley of flowers, skiing slopes and dense forests. This Land of Gods includes many shrines and places of pilgrimage. Char-dhams, the four most sacred and revered Hindu temples: Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are nestled in the Mighty Mountains of Uttaranchal.

Tamil Nadu : Situated in the extreme south of the Indian peninsula, Tamil Nadu represents the seat of Dravidian culture in India. A good forest cover has ensured adequate flora and a vibrant wildlife in this state. Tamil Nadu has some of the most breathtakingly beautiful temples including Brihadeshwara temple, Sri Meenakshi Sundareswar temple, Srirangam temple and Shore temples. Important tourist sites include the hill stations, Kodaikanal and Ooty.

Ajanta & Ellora : Ajanta caves, the 29 caves adorned with exquisite wall – paintings and sculptures depicting scenes from the life of Buddha, are located 104 km from Aurangabad. The caves date back to 200 BC to 600 AD. Ellora caves, the finest specimens of cave - temple architecture, are located 28 km from Aurangabad and comprise of in all 34 Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves, carved out of a hillside, dating from seventh century onwards.
