Travel, Teach, Live in Japan
Thank you for sharing your insights and capturing the changing language needs of Japanese students and adults.
I currently teach ESL and writing at an elite private university in California, but would like to explore teaching opportunities in Japan for 2009-2010 year. Where would you suggest I look? I'm only interested in university positions in English, media studies, and writing.
I have also heard that it is possible for experienced ESL instructors to teach short-term courses to both Japanese English teachers and business professionals in summer. Naturally, as the co-author of an advanced ESL conversation textbook, I would also be interested in training English teachers how to create more lively, focused, and authentic conversations in classrooms.
Are you familiar with any agencies that I should contact for next summer and the following fall? Do you recommend subscribing to any professional groups' email lists for English teachers in Japan? Which?
Thank you for your time, energy, and efforts to help English teachers in Japan.
