It isn't possible to convert the visa while in Korea. The school you'd be working for would have to sponsor you and then you take that paperwork out of the country (usually Japan) and get the work visa at the embassy. You can do that in one day. I taught English in Korea for three years and am going to go back for a fourth so I've been through all that a couple times.
