Caribbean - Dominican Republic - Santo Domingo
School:Domínico-Americano

The "Domínico-Americano", as Dominicans know it and refer to it, is a Bi-National Center. It was founded in 1947 by a group of Dominicans and of U.S. citizens who were then living in this country. Its goal was to strengthen cultural bonds and the ties of friendship between the peoples of the United States of America and of the Dominican Republic.

The ICDA’s mission is to encourage and carry out educational programs in general, and more specifically the teaching of English as a foreign language; to work towards a better development of the community it serves, and to promote knowledge, good understanding, and the intensification of the friendly relations between the Dominican Republic and the United States of America, as well as broadening the relationships and the cultural horizons of both the abovementioned peoples. In order to attain its objectives, the ICDA carries out different educational programs and cultural activities.

This school offers all the levels of elementary school and high school in English. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) of the United States, and by the Secretaría de Educación – Department of Education) of the Dominican Republic. It teaches Spanish as a first language, as well as Dominican history and civics.
