English schools in Latin America

Brazil - Brasilia
School:American School of Brasilia

At the high school, individual counseling is provided to students with educational and/or personal concerns. In addition, regular career and college orientation and counseling sessions are scheduled. College placement is of primary concern to the secondary counselor. Credits for graduation are earned in grades 9 through 12. The High School program is college preparatory, and each student is required to carry a full load of five major subjects (English, History, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Language) and Physical Education. Students in grades 9-12 have a 45-hour community service graduation requirement. Students in grades 9 to 12 are promoted based upon the completion of a specific number of credits.

Middle School: The goal of the Middle School Team is to encourage students to learn self-discipline, increase organizational skills, have social responsibility and to be accountable for their own learning. Students are challenged intellectually while being exposed to a wide variety of subjects and activities in order to be better prepared for the expectations placed on them at the high school level.

Lower School: Escola Americana de Brasília (EAB) has a Lower School enrollment of 225 students comprising grades K-3 through Grade Five. Approximately seventy percent of our students are Brazilian, while the remaining thirty percent are Americans and Third Country Nationals. Twenty-three different nationalities are represented in our Lower School.
