Goal Achievement Keys - Is This One Thing Causing Your Failure?
By:Anthony D Carter

The achievement of your goals depends heavily upon your habits. Your daily habits are either moving you forward or stopping you dead in your tracks. Here are three symptoms of a person with bad habits and cures for eliminating them.

Lack of Focus - If you find it hard to focus on your goals you are most likely being distracted by daily circumstances and situations. It is difficult to focus on your necessary tasks if you do not develop a routine for doing your daily work habits. Without positive habits it is hard to develop a rhythm. Your attention is constantly drawn to the urgent rather than the necessary.

Solution: You need to have a list of work habits that get done regardless of the events which happen throughout your day. Your habits will keep you on track. Simply focus on developing the necessary habits and then concentrate on doing those habits daily.

Lack of Control - Without the proper habits you will feel like piece of wood in the ocean. It is easy to feel like you are being tossed to and from by the daily waves of life. One minute you are doing something to move you forward towards accomplishing your goals and the next you are stuck working on an irrelevant activity.

"Efficiency is doing things right effectiveness is doing the right things." ~ Peter Drucker

Solution: Establish habits which take you directly to the achievement of your goal. You want to map out the most direct route. Then you want to give each work habit some type of priority. You should place a level of importance on each work habit. There should be some habits that are non-negotiable. Determine in advance which ones will get done irregardless of what is going on in your life.

Lack of Consistency - Stopping and starting causes you to lose hope. This affects your attitude in a negative way. If you go like gang busters for two weeks and then back off for three you will eventually quit. Anyone who has struggled to lose weight recognizes this dilemma.

If you are not consistent then you do not have a positive habit. And your negative habits eventually will take over by default. You will find yourself in a constant battle in which you are attempting to eliminate bad bad habits and replace them with good ones. This is becomes never ending cycle of starting and stopping which tires you out.

Solution: If you want to experience consistent progress towards achieving your goals you need to develop set of habits which puts the process on auto-pilot. It is best to have your positive habits so ingrained in your day to day routine that you do not have to think about them. Commit to doing them everyday no matter what. That way your steady work ethic will keep you consistently moving forward.
