The Importance of Taking the Initiative and Creating Success for Yourself
By:Anthony D Carter

Success doesn't happen automatically. You cannot wait on good fortune to come to you. You have got to go out to meet it. That will take some initiative on your part. Here are five reasons why it is important that you take the initiative and begin creating success for yourself.

Diminishes Fear - The more you take the initiative the less you are affected by fear. When you take action on tasks which make you nervous you eliminate much of the fear surrounding them. Most often we fear the unknown. If you repeatedly taking action then you will learn to deal with many of the challenges associated with the tasks that scare you.

After going through every situation you will develop an understanding of how everything works. Once you have good deal of experience dealing with the problems then you will not fear them anymore.

"Do the thing you fear, and the death of fear is certain". ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Creates Opportunities - When you take the initiative you will create opportunities that would have never come your way if you had simply waited. By trying different approaches you open up more opportunities. You must strive to act rather than wait.

Increases Control - You are in complete control over two things. The action that you take and the mental attitude that you harbor. If you continually take action then you will decrease your nervousness and worrying. You will gain confidence as you realize that so much of your success is in your own hands. You make your own breaks by taking the initiative to do something positive about your situation.

Builds Respect - You will gain the respect of people around you when you become known as a person who always takes the initiative. Your coworkers will look up to you. Your boss will look at you as the person who gets things done without a lot of supervision. This will set you up for promotions and raises.

If you are a business owner this will cast you in a favorable light with your clients and vendors. When you have initiative it will be easy for you to get word of mouth referrals because people will spread the word about you.

Sets Up Goal Achievement - You set your self up for success with your goals when you develop the habit of taking initiative. As you continue to take action towards achieving your goals rather than waiting for a lucky break you will find yourself bombarded with opportunities which propel you forward.
