Why Am I Shy Around People?
By:Martin G King

If you are asking yourself this question and looking for an answer to it, look no further - this article will help you! I'll share with you three possible reasons of your shyness and three solutions. Here they are!

Possible reason #1: you're avoiding situations that make you uncomfortable

This is simple: every time you avoid a situation that makes you uncomfortable, you're basically saying to yourself "I want to remain a shy person". You won't get rid of your social shyness if you're going to avoid every social event, refuse every invitation and spend your life in front of TV. Accept this fact: you HAVE TO face your fears to stop being shy around people. There's no other way around.

Solution: start doing things that scare you. Make it a habit to do at least one scary thing (related to your self-confidence around people) every day. Thanks to this, you'll quickly get used to stressful situations and as a result you'll feel more confident around people.

Possible reason #2: you don't know your value

Almost all shy people don't know their value. They overestimate their weaknesses and underestimate their strengths. Consequently, they believe that they are inferior to other people (and that's not true at all!) and that's why they have a low self-esteem. Get to know yourself and stop thinking that you're a weak person.

Solution: write down all your strengths and weaknesses and acknowledge them. You aren't perfect (no one is), so stop worrying that other people are better than you (they aren't).

Possible reason #3: you're constantly thinking what other people think about you

Most shy people worry about what other people think about them. As a result, they can't be comfortable with themselves. Learn to ignore other people and don't seek approval from them. It's never a good idea to be a conformist - it kills your self-esteem.

Solution: stop thinking about what other people think about you. It only makes you concentrate on their opinion instead of improving yourself. Accept yourself and never let other people make you change if you don't want to change. It's your life, not theirs.

These three reasons are the most common causes of shyness. Now that you know them (and know the solutions to your problems!), stop asking yourself why you're shy around people and start working on your self-confidence. You too can become confident and feel comfortable around people!
