Enthusiasm: The Panacea and Magic Potion
By:Nagen Bhusan Patnaik

The term 'enthusiasm' refers to a strong feeling of excitement and interest in something and a desire to become involved in it. Just start your day with a smile on your face and with lot of spirit and energy and the day will respond with the same virtues. It is a powerful force behind every achievement. An enthusiastic person accepts life with all its challenges and does everything possible to be successful. Further, s/he becomes the source of inspiration for others by making them active and energetic. One should always have the thirst for new experiences and knowledge. In order to clarify the misconception about the term enthusiasm, Gordon Byron says, "Don't confuse enthusiasm with noise and vulgar show. Enthusiasm can be perfectly silent. It is the fire that burns within you that counts, not the smoke the fire may generate."

Enthusiasm teaches

So far as an enthusiastic person is concerned, s/he can create a constructive ambience for learning. For instance, a teacher can create an exciting learning atmosphere for learning, if s/he is eager and excited about teaching it. Children are easily influenced, and hence, we must inspire them and motivate them to learn, to achieve and to be the best. Whatever the situation may be, one should not lose hope and enthusiasm. In a classroom it is the spirit of the teachers which influences and motivates the students to sit and listen to the lectures. Some individual teachers would get wonderful results with their students. On the contrary, the real success lies in the achievements of all the students but not some of them. Hence, there should not be pessimism and lack of spirit as they lead to chaos and destruction. On the contrary optimistic, enthusiastic and excited persons can fetch wonderful and colourful consequences.

Enthusiasm at the place of work

It is important to be enthusiastic in the workplace if you wish to get ahead. Whenever the issue of overtime comes up you're unlikely to make a very good impression on your boss. Thus, one has to struggle to be enthusiastic about it. If you display enthusiasm and willingness to work hard, you end up in a better position that comes with more responsibility. Thus, it is worth trying to be enthusiastic whenever you can, as this will definitely make an impression on those around you. Enthusiasm can definitely be a useful attribute to possess, particularly in the workplace, as you are known as someone who works hard and who is extremely keen. If you truly wish to be the person that makes a difference in your organization, add enthusiasm to your behavior at work. Enthusiasm is motivating and inspiring; it is the method to get people to notice that you have positive ideas to contribute to the success of the organization. Passion in the workplace is just as infectious as it gives other employees confidence in their own abilities. The ability to inspire and encourage other workers is a vital managerial skill. Despite every day problems at work, one has to maintain enthusiasm to establish rapport with others. Enthusiastic employees keep on learning to make themselves more valuable to their employer. Furthermore, they are interested in everything that goes on in the workplace.

Our life is replete with dreams. In order to make them genuine, we have to take some practical and necessary steps. It is hard work, which puts us on the right track and brings success. Nobody has achieved anything great in life without diligence and toil. One should have an attitude to sacrifice anything and do everything for success. The persons who are weak in mind and personality will not be able to continue with their struggle for success, as they are lethargic in nature. For them, success in life will always remain as a dream. On the other hand, enthusiastic persons will face problems courageously and do their best to confront the win- win situation. For them, problems are not burdens but challenges - a chance to illustrate their moral and ethical power.
